Shopping at the grocery store is a community

Shopping at the grocery store is a community

What makes this a community is that there are several people going to the same place to get stuff they need. What holds this group together is that the food supply is still coming to the store, so it keeps people returning to the store. The people in this group need the same thing, which is food. They also value the food because we are lucky enough to have as much as we need. Usually the tensions of it being really busy and the long lines that you have to wait to check out in work against the cohesion of this community. Even sometimes there will be a good sale and people will fight over the last item on sale, then it’s hectic. Also there are some cart collisions while turning corners. But overall this community runs smoothly. I fit into this group because I’m just another person that goes to the store to get the grocery’s I need. We all need the same thing, that’s to get food for our family’s. I want to be a part of this community because without this community I would starve. So I would say it’s a good community to be a part of.

What's in my purse?

If I was to lose my purse I would lose a lot of stuff. Everyone always jokes about how my purse weighs so much and that I have everything I need in my purse. Well luckily right before this blog I cleaned out my purse so I won’t have a five page blog about the contents in my purse and how it identifies me. Still someone who found my purse would think I had a lot of “stuff” but that may just be “stuff” to them but it’s meaningful stuff to me. I asked my niece what she would think if she found my purse and she said “She would think I was very materialistic by just looking at my purse”. Or someone might think I was stuck up or rich. I think she thinks this because my purse is a Coach purse and for those men and some women who don’t know it’s a pretty expensive brand. Inside my purse I have lots of paperwork from the doctors and bills I have to pay. Someone might make the assumption that I am a stupid person because I carry this important stuff in my purse. But the real reason I carry it in my purse is because I forget stuff easily and it’s there to remind me. I have my camera, my sunglasses, a mirror and a Coach wristlet. If it were a guy that found my purse he would probably make the assumption I was high maintenance and wonder why I need to carry all of this, women totally understand.
I have chapstick, lipgloss, pens, pencils, address book, checkbook, Bluetooth, and change floating around everywhere. That’s just what’s in my purse. In my wallet is my ID, a Subway card, Starbucks cards, grocery store rewards cards, Outback gift card, Wal-Mart gift card, Costco member card, Petco rewards card, insurance cards and pictures of family and friends. If they found my ID they would notice I was a female, 5’3” tall, 130 pounds, brown eyes and live in Everett, WA. Everything would be right except my weight is 15 pounds heavier because I just gave birth to my daughter, which they could probably guess I had a baby because of the pacifier in my purse. They could guess that I have some kind of animal because of the Petco card, which I do have a cat and a dog. Someone would make the assumption that I go shopping a lot and have lots of money based on all the cards in my purse. But if you didn’t notice I didn’t mention anything about any money in my purse because I have none. If they identified me as someone who liked to eat they would be right, but then if they pictured me as a heavier person because of all the food cards they would be wrong. Based on the pictures of my friends and family hopefully it would give them the assumption that I care a lot about them.
The person who found my purse would think I was a very messy person that keeps everything. But by just finding my purse they would be unable to know that I am actually a clean freak. I clean everyday because I hate things being messing, I can’t stand dirt and never think anything is clean enough. They wouldn’t know that I go to college because I have nothing to show that I go to school. I would be very upset if I lost my purse and wallet but to someone else it could mean nothing.
